It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman! The Man of Steel is getting a new definitive origin story that will give readers an in-depth look at Kal-El’s journey to become one of the most iconic superheroes in history.

“Superman: Year One” from DC Black Label will be released bi-monthly in the form of large-format periodicals with issue #1 in June, issue #2 in August, and issue #3 in October. A collection of the complete story will be available in bookstores everywhere November 2019.

Frank Miller (“Batman: Year One,” “Batman: Dark Knight Returns”) will pen the origin story alongside John Romita Jr. (“Daredevil: The Man Without Fear,” “The Amazing Spider-Man”), who will draw the artwork. Miller and Romita Jr. are two of the most revered voices in comics, so Superman fans and comics fans alike should look forward to the publication’s release. The first issue will be available in local comic stores starting June 19.
