Adult Swim, Amy Poehler officially a thing with 'Three Busy Debras'
One year ago, Adult Swim ordered a pilot for the Amy Poehler co-produced comedy series “Three Busy Debras.” Well, those Debras are about to be crazy busy as Adult Swim has announced the series has been picked up and will go into production later this year.
The show is the brainchild of the comedy trio of Mitra Jouhari, Sandy Honig and Alyssa Stonoha, known as Three Busy Debras. The three also serve as executive producers, along with Poehler (through her company Paper Kite Productions), Kim Lessing and director Anna Dokoza. More about these Debras here.
So, what are these Debras so busy with? The quarter-hour live-action comedy follows the surreal day-to-day lives of three deranged housewives, all named Debra, of course, in their affluent suburban town of Lemoncurd, Connecticut.
“Paper Kite is thrilled to help amplify the bold and bloody voices of the ‘Three Busy Debras,’" Poehler said when Adult Swim ordered the show's pilot in 2018. "We hope this show makes you feel strange in all the right ways."
Strange and Adult Swim go hand-in-hand, so we have a feeling this is a match made in heaven. Or Lemoncurd, Connecticut more specifically.
