WarnerMedia wins big at 40th annual Sports Emmy Awards

WarnerMedia received eight Sports Emmy awards at this week’s 40th annual Sports Emmy Awards ceremony in New York City.

HBO and TNT each received four awards for several of their biggest shows, including “Hard Knocks,” “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel,” and “Inside the NBA.” This is the 19th win for Outstanding Sports Journalism for “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel,” more than any other sports journalism program. HBO also won for Outstanding Long Form Documentary for “Momentum Generation,” which tells the story of nine teenagers who revolutionized the sport of surfing.

The awards, handed out by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, were presented by a number of athletes and TV personalities, including TNT’s own Ernie Johnson, the winner of Outstanding Sports Personality – Studio Host.
