Months of teasers, hints… all leading up to this. A premiere date has officially been set for the HBO series, “Watchmen.” The highly-anticipated series will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.

Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” or masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws, the show embraces the nostalgia of the original, groundbreaking DC Comics graphic novel of the same name from Alan Moore, while breaking new ground of its own. In his social media post, creator/showrunner Damon Lindelof (Emmy winner for “Lost” and “The Leftovers”) promised that his new version won’t simply be a reboot of the original, but a brand new story that takes place roughly 30 years later. Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, and Tim Blake Nelson round out the cast of Lindelof’s adaptation.

Be sure to tune in for the big premiere of “Watchmen,” Sunday, Oct. 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
