This week, Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) will celebrate its 40th anniversary. The organization, whose mission is to create women leaders who transform our industry, has spent the past four decades highlighting the importance of women in leadership roles. Research indicates companies are more successful and profitable when there is diversity of thought at the highest ranks. However, in the media and technology fields, that task may sometimes seem difficult and daunting in an industry dominated by men.
In celebration of its many efforts geared towards gender diversity, WICT, in partnership with Turner, Comcast NBCUniversal, Cox, Discovery, Inc., and Spectrum, released its first-ever PSA on Monday, March 4 at the Nation Press Club in Washington D.C. The 30-second PSA features Turner’s Executive Vice President and Global Human Resources Officer Angela Santone.
The PSA launched with a global campaign to #LeadwithMore, highlighting the importance of female leadership and all its advantages. The initiative was timed to coincide with International Women’s Day, happening on Friday, March 8. Santone is featured in the spot along with Cox VP of Technology Engineering and Operations Toni Stubbs, Spectrum’s Head of Marketing, Consumer and SMB Kelly Atkinson, and Comcast NBCUniversal SVP, Chief Product and Information Security Officer Noopur Davis.
As we get ready for International Women’s Day and celebrate Women’s History month, WICT and Turner want to encourage women to continue to pursue jobs in this industry and #LeadwithMore, because their success means greater success for us all.
